With the Lagoon 42 Janny in Winter we practice in Tenerife and La Gomera - Canary Islands. In Summer we are on the beautifull Island of Sardinia. Our base ist the Marina in the centre of Cagliari. There we start our practise rounds in open water, before we sail along the East Coast and visit some lovely bays. Learn how to control the catamaran, by rounding various fender situations. Wednes and Thursday, we do than serious docking operations in the marina from Cagliari.  

Instead of the usual 3 days, our Catamaran Catamaran Skipper Training Canary Islands & Sardinia & Croatia lasts one complete week. You can process the information gained and repeat certain exercises later. There is plenty of time for rest during the week - a mini-holiday so to speak. By repeating certain docking maneuvers, some routine starts to develop. Mind you, you have not learned car driving in one single week. 

Our catamaran maneuver training offer allows you to take your partner or friend at half price. You not only shared one cabin, you also have a partner to discuss and evaluate your maneuvers. More so, when you plan your next independent Catamaran Charter, you have a friend at hand helping you.

With Lagoon 42 Janny, we organise over 40 catamaran trainings each year. So you can book one of our training seasons all year around. 

From November till the end of March, we are with the Lagoon 42 Janny on Tenerife. We start from San Miguel de Abone (4 km from Tenerife South Airport), and visit Los Christianos, Las Americans, Adeje and Los Gigantos. After which we sail to San Sebastian on the island of La Gomera, to continue practicing routines in front of the marina la Gomera. You fly to airport Tenerife South. The Marina is 15 Taxi minutes for the airport.

Middle of April till the end of October, the Lagoon 42 Janny is on Sardinia. We from Marina Portus Karalis in the centre of Cagliari. The fist 3 days we sail along the East cost of Sardinia. Do you maneuver prices, an learn how to steer the catamaran with both enginees. From Wednesday, we are back in Cagliari to do more serious docking exercises. You fly to airport Cagliar on Sardinia. The marina is 10 minutes with taxi.

I get more and more requests from groups who want to book a charter week with families and friends including skipper, to teach them how to maneuver such catamaran. Then you personally decide how many catamaran training sessions you want, and how much relaxing time remains for family / friends. Here, also your wives can practice catamaran maneuvers.

Also, here the same argument is valid: Your family and friends are all tight up in the same training routines. You share your experiences, and the total group gains common catamaran knowledge. Everyone is benefiting. Your next joined catamaran charter becomes a piece of cake.

In the Catamaran Training, you will learn in practice the catamaran sailing characteristics, as well as maneuvering your catamaran with both engines without using the helm. Port maneuvers such as mooring maneuvers at different wind situations, are practiced several times. Anchor maneuver with chain assist lines, for stabilization of your catamaran. We will used 2 additional front sails: The Code Zero furling genoa and Wingaker Spinaker. You will get in additional more catamaran practice tips. We make you fit for chartering our Catamaran Lagoon 42 or any other catamaran in future. The skipper accompanies and assist you by all harbor maneuvers. You remain in charge. The Skipper only intervenes to avoid damage to ships and crew members. 

Catamaran Skipper Training book

atamaran training, harbor maneuver training, skipper training often take place without accompanying information. You come unprepared for catamaran maneuver training week, without any premonition what to expect during your catamaran skipper training week. It acts like applying for your driver's licence. You learn a lot in an hour, but after 3-5 days you have forgotten some of catamaran - skipper training again. In the catamaran training book, you can read step by step each individual catamaran maneuver exercise. The instructions are not exhaustive, as in different wind conditions and water currents more or less engine thrust must be given. But after a week you will be able to charter a catamaran independently (if you have a basic sailing license). To the left you see some pages of catamaran training book. On the right you can see the first catamaran training and skipper training exercises in the open water or in a bay. The rudder is fixed with the steering wheel nut and you get a first feeling how the catamaran can be controlled with both engines. We lay out both ball fenders and practice a variety of parking maneuvers between the two ball Fender.

The picture on the left shows you the situation in reality, pictures 1 to 5 the individual steps of the drop-off maneuver, lines and engine settings and figure 6 shows the drop maneuver in offshore wind.
